Canadians please respond...
Does a US citizen need a passport to enter Canada? I will be going up there on business and was wondering if I needed to get one. I was in Canada a couple years back and all I needed was picture ID and a copy of my birth certificate. Is this still the case? Also does how you go determine if I would need one? IE: Plane, car, walking or...truck! Thanks in advance...

I'm pretty sure you need a passport... I could be wrong though.
I'll dig up the info later on today, though. I'll be looking into this stuff for myself anyway.

you should also bring lots of knives,, especially hidden in really conspicuous places.
as well as gun powder.. but don't store it in anything, just kinda toss it around in the backseat.
and don't look any customs officers or border "people" in the eye. They hate that. In fact they don't even want to see the top of your head either.. wear a hoodie. and shuffle your feet while you talk.. in a low mumbly placating voice.

hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
bring the passport. Even if you don't need it it's better to be ready than to drive home crying about the fact you gotta be this tall to ride the maple syrup railroad.

You need a birth certificate and a social security card if you don't have a passport. Or at least you did as of Feb 03.

I thought you just needed a birth certificate copy if you didn't have a passport, and if for some reason you have a military ID, you can use that too.

all you need is your driver's license and your birth certificate. and they may not even ask for your birth certificate. make sure its the original though. i just went up to niagara falls two weeks ago, and thats all you need. if you were a customs agent, would you be more suspicious of a newer full-size van with 5 teenagers and twenty-somethings, or a 93 ford probe with 3 people in it? the van got through fine both times, but me and my friends in the probe got stopped both times. all i can figure is that i look like some kind of drug dealer or something because of the shaved head and goatee. its profiling, i tell you.
