I think that in firefox, it's the built in search feature..like if you're not in a text box, firefox will search for characters (Quick find). Is it possible you're exiting text boxes somehow?

Yeah, / brings up Quick Find in Firefox. Is it only on this forum or elsewhere too?

at a quick test, I went to fark.
simply on the main page those characters will bring up search, in the reply field it looks correct.

until I can prove otherwise, yes. I don't use FF at home though, I always liked Crazybrowser for windows, so it is an "at work" problem
