Yeah, I guess. It's just a bit annoying to be told about some format war that is apparently going to affect me and require me to update my DVD collection when the winner of said war doesn't actually provide something I want and I can't find any evidence that anyone besides the companies producing this superfluous crap actually give a shit about any of it.
It sort of reminds me of the predictions that are made at the start of the year for what clothes/items/whatever will be fashionable in the coming twelve months. Who is determining this stuff? Isn't fashion defined by what is popular and what sells to the customer? It can't just be decided by some conclave of manufacturers that what we had before sucked and now we should get this new, otherwise identical, stuff.
