 Russia: A new sports dominant
Well with Russia's recent win over Holland with 3-1 in memory that seems to be the case. But I wonder if the focus of sports won't change from Western Europe and the US to Russia.
The Russian football league has a series of top players and seems to have the money to build further, and the same goes forthe Russian hockey league.
Is this the beginning of the shift from West to east over all or is it just a temporary thing?

The thing with the Russian football team is that they're all youngsters. They were essentially an unknown element in this tournament when you compare them to a team like Italy (average age 31). If this is a new generation of players, we could be seeing an awful lot of good football coming out of Russia in the next few years.

Well, I was reading about Russian football on Wiki the other day, and apparently they've always had a very strong sporting network, that is until the collapse of the USSR and they're just starting to rebuild it again. Go Russia
