Did I play this hand right?
13 ppl left 18-10 pays 30$, 9th pays 50$
I've taken some tough hands and now I'm stuck with a below average stack.
I'm totally certain a call in this position is the worst of my three moves... I seriously considered folding and trying to eek my way to the final table but other table had a guy with a 500k stack and if I was going to make the final table I wanted to be able to compete... I make what I still believe is the right choice by moving allin. Thoughts?
I've got a lot more to post about this tournament as there were some really interesting hands.

Hell yeah you did. AA is the ONLY hand that could have beat ya. What is it 201-1 on him having AA?

kings beat me too...
there is something definately to be said for folding the hand cuz I'd get a lot closer to the money.

Was watching and eagrly rooting for the great marsupial during this hand and thru most of the tourney.
kinda funny, but me and bjy actually had this exact same talk....well sorta but yeah I'll lay out what he said and add my thoughts.
Now this doesnt really pertain to you because you were in preflop, but I have heed his words and never again (crosses fingers) will overplay big slick no matter the postion...I think he eloquently said...
"If big slick doesnt hit on the flop its no better than 72 os, just another drawing hand."
Now while that may not be entired true as you have the top two kickers to any made trips or whatnot on the board, it still is basically valueless unless you can read what another person has and put them on a non pocket pair with calling your preflop raise.
Very difficult to do, and well Ax has become just another hand to me. Where once I awaited the ace, and played it to its death, its now become something of a novelty unless its AA then its full on boogie (most of the time).
I dont claim to know much, but from what I've gathered, and learned its far overplayed unless an ace or a king hits on the board. I'd much rather have a moderate pocket pair, and pray on the poker gods that an A or a K doesnt hit, because at least I have them beat from the flop. Much easier to pray against it than pray for it, imho.
Maybe I'm too simplistic in my thinking, and maybe thats my downfall as I rarely play anything that isnt Ax suited or a suited connecter (limping) or a pocket pair (will call a medium raise because I know of others' value of Ax).
I guess I've become the rock that everyone bullies, but gets a couple of big hands here and there when they bully at the wrong time. Use it to my advantage though, or try to.
But yeah to answer your question, looking back you can say hindsight is 20/20, but I dont believe AK is capable of making an "all in call" that late in the tourney when you are assured bigger money if you just relax and chill. But I see where you were gunning, and you wanted to be a competitor at the final table. To each his own I guess, you're the one with WPT experience, and you probably know better than I do, but I figured I'd offer my insights from my 4 months of poker experience.

You know what though...there comes a time when you have to make that call or bet. People do it to people online ALL THE TIME. Over the past week, I have had SO MANY really good starting hands cracked, I could shit.
Brick and mortar....you may not have made that call.

Eh...I was up way too late last night reading a few sites, and I realized the more I typed here, the more I contradicted myself, not intentionally as to throw you off but he more I realized about my own style that fit my personality/passive/aggressiveness.
That being said, I still think you should have folded when the bb came to you, as you werent dead yet, and when someone puts you in its tought to call with ak knowing that they could have aa or kk, you gotta have a read on that player before you can do so that late in the tourney. If i remember correctly they were playing pretty rockish, you had a few others to worry about going all in with shit to steal, but the person to your right wasn't playing many hands, maybe due to short stackedness, maybe due to looking to double up himself. But yeah, you should have realized something fishy when he pushed all in in the sb with a sure caller, (the middle position), who only folded because "you made it more".
