Played in a ghetto this evening and came out swinging, although controlled punches that were calculated. Hit some spots, and was quickly up to 7k. Then the lull...

Minute 20-Minute 50 is when this usually occurs for me...I get to a comfortable spot, and relax. Loose the aggressiveness when I have everyone at my table covered twice, and this shouldnt happen, or so I dont think.

Then around Minute 50 I'll figure things out, hit another pot or 2, climb it to around 10k and hit another lull till 1st place runs out of my reach, and I make one mistake or catch one bad beat then it all crumbles when I try to make something happen with marginal hands.

Seems as though maybe my table persona wasnt that of a rock so much, but as a free wheelin sob, as I successfully stole 1 pot out of 5 attempts. Eh, I dont play alot of hands, and rely on solid play and pot odds to guide me, but when you are forced to make something happen because you lose focus there's not much you can do.

Busted out on a 50/50 around the 2nd break, but had I won it I'd have tripled up due to a technique of not going all in just calling and letting the rest of them fight to join me all in on the hand I choose.

Just seems I switch gears, or maybe get scared as I dont have a real money roll yet, and figure that any tourney I play could be the last one I play for a while (until I make my depot). Maybe thats it...maybe I just need to have the depot in there to give me that knowledge that I can play this tourney with no fear like I do in the freerolls.

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Didnt really suffer any bad beats, just 50/50's that didnt go my way, and one bluff raise that I couldnt call cuz I was bluffing with shit.

This is like the 5th time I've seen ya post about a table persona... and you mentioned it last night.

It's extremely rare for online players to even notice how tight someone is playing. They may notice when someone loosens up some but they rarely if ever notice how tight a person is... they don't take note of betting strategies, position or persona. If they do... they are in the lone 5% that do.

I think that the way to tweak it, is as Mars hinted at. Dont try to rely on table image. The pros are not wrong, and if you were playing in a game that had more decent players (this is a Ghetto. this is why it is called the ghetto), then you could count on them noticiing. Here, you have to just play the cards and not try to steal very much. People arent gonna make incredible laydowns on you. So, when you think that people have worse hands than you, bet. If you think that someone's hand is incredibly weak, bet. If not, foldem.

Another thing with the big ghetto tourneys is that people are coming and going from tables all the time. You will never go an hour with the same lineup at the table. For this reason, even if folks were paying atttention to the image that you are trying to set up, not everyone at the table will have been there long enough in most cases, to figure you out.

My advice is to play the cards, and not try to bluff idiots. When you get DEEP into the tourney, then you can usually bluff at pots. Table image is only as valuable as your opponents are observant.

(BTW Chris, you may not have gotten the advice that you were looking for because neither of your first 2 posts in this thread were really that clear as to what they wanted. I didnt see you ask a specific question in them.)

And PS......you probably just wanted to double up on the last hand. More opponents means more chances to get your medium pocket pair beat. UNLESS you had AK against a low pair on the coinflip....with AK, i think that i would want one more player to call me. You say that you lost some 50/50's.....try avoiding some of those. You said this yourself in a chat awhile ago......"Chips not lost are more important than chips won."
