Might as well start a thread about Valiant comics rather than running in on Matt's other threads.

So about Rai.

The general story is such, in the future, Japan took their island and floated it into space to orbit Earth. They created a super computer called Grandmother to rule the country. She took a single man and gave him super powers to help police when neccessary. She gave him the power to transport himself through the nerve network of the country which was pretty cool and he could harness the energy in his body to congur martial art weapons of his choice into his hands.

Then there's the grandmother haters cause not everyone likes their government and he's faced to stop them without fucking everything up. Things didn't always go smoothly.

This was the beginning portion of the Rai line. Then there was a "Rai and the Future Force" continuation where a guy takes Bloodshot's "Blood of Heroes" and uses it to fight robots. (not a great series). He took the name Rai.

The last third of the Rai line, was this guys son unwillingly takes on the Rai name but is faced against the son of the last true "Grandmother's Rai"

I myself liked the first and last sections of the stories.

They gave us Doctor Eclipse and Master Darque, both really cool villains, too.
